Due to the high volume of calls and emails that we receive regarding advocacy questions for students with dyslexia, we ask that you take the time to review the following list of free resources provided by the Dyslexia Training Institute below. If you still have questions after reviewing the resources, feel free to contact us with your questions and/or concerns. We are happy to provide a short phone conversation or brief email regarding general questions about advocacy. In order to provide quality service, anything beyond 15 minutes will be subject to our advocacy fees. If you are interested in advocacy services please see our advocacy services listed below.
IEP Review and Analysis
1) IEP Review: During this review an advocate at DTI will review your student's IEP (and up to two prior IEPs), student's independent writing samples, as well as any school and/or private assessments, that were conducted. The advocate will review present levels, goals and services and you will receive a detailed report with suggestions and, if appropriate, the accompanying IDEA code to support those suggestions. Suggestions can include improved present levels, new and/or rewritten goals, informal assessment of orthographic knowledge, and service suggestions. (Minimum 2 hours)
IEP Meeting / Document Review and Analysis
2) IEP Meeting and IEP Review: During this review an advocate at DTI will review your student's IEP (as described in #1 above) and will also listen to the recording of your IEP meeting. The advocate will submit a report to you with suggestions and comments regarding the IEP (as described above) as well as the IEP meeting and suggest next steps. (Minimum of 3 hours).
