Sometimes, I sit back and wonder, why am I so tired? In 2024, the answer is easy.
We spent 2024 improving, adding, innovating, and growing. Because so much has changed this year, we wanted to share with you where we have been, where we are now, and where we are going.
DTI is a boutique organization that provides high-quality training from a staff that just never changes (which is a good thing!). We place a premium on customer service and believe the personal touch, the person on the other end of the phone or email, is important. We haven’t outgrown customer service or quality and never will.
We unveiled a new website!
It was time to spruce up the place a bit, and if you’ve ever done it, you know it wasn’t easy. But it’s up and running, and she’s really pretty. Take a moment to click around and see everything we have to offer in a very intuitive and easy to navigate website.
It wasn’t broken, but we fixed it anyway. We improved the Dyslexia Certificate Program (DCP) and we earned Accreditation Plus from the International Dyslexia Association (IDA)!
In 2025, we will be entering our 14th year of the online Dyslexia Certificate Program (DCP). We started out as the only company to offer such a training online, way back in 2011. We offered it because we had trouble finding the training for ourselves west of the Mississippi. While we are not the only game in town anymore, we are the only training that allows participants to take the training at their pace, without having to sit on Zoom for days on end. We do this while also making sure our participants have access to our phenomenal instructors, and then they wrap it up by finishing the practicum with a mentor. Participants get to keep their mentors throughout their practicum – and we know everyone loves our mentors (as do we) because they tell us.
We spent 2024 updating the curriculum with new videos, new content, and an updated look. Then we added a brand-new accreditation from the International Dyslexia Association! Yay us!
We have the goods!
It was a long time coming, but DTI now officially has new materials for participants in the Dyslexia Certificate Program. Certificate participants of the DCP receive a guidebook, a 350-page book filled with words, sentences and stories to help with lesson planning and instruction We even made some of those materials (think the best grapheme/phoneme cards available) available to buy on our brand-new website. Check out our store.
ASHA CEUs
Drum roll, please! Very recently (like very recently), DTI was approved to offer ASHA CEUs. Stay tuned for more information! You will be able to register for ASHA CEUs for one of our courses and our conference very soon! More courses will be added throughout the year.
Micro-credential
What is a micro-credential anyway? That was our question, too, and when we found out, we thought that would be a great extra perk to offer our participants. Click here more information about what that means for you. This is available for the Dyslexia Certificate Program and the Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and Fluency course.
Our annual conference just keeps growing!
In 2024, we offered our 8th Annual Dyslexia Virtual Conference and then began planning for our 9th conference in February 2025. As usual, the presenters are outstanding, and participants continue to return each year. We must be doing something right! Register here.
Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and Fluency
I am especially proud of this course. This course is brand-new. I mean, from the bottom-up, brand-new. We took it down to the studs and built it back up. All of the content is supported by research, and it is filled with practical activities. Check it out here.
New and Improved Advocacy Certificate
Last and certainly not least our beloved Dyslexia Advocate Certificate got a facelift. New videos, updated content and a little extra time devoted to the IEP meeting itself. Join us for the Spring cohort here.
Dyslexia for a Day Simulation
Not to be outdone by all the other things we have improved, added, and spruced up this year, participants can now sign up for a virtual session of the ubiquitous Dyslexia for a Day simulation. Choose a time to join us here.
Also, for those of you have already purchased this kit, be on the lookout for a supplement that we will be sending to you in 2025. This supplement will include dos and don’ts of implementing the simulation, FAQs, directions for virtual sessions and directions one new simulation.
And…be on the lookout for a train the trainer for those who implement the simulation on a regular basis.
Wrapping Up 2024
Whew! Ok. That’s enough for 2024.
I started DTI with a desire to help. I wanted to make a difference. I believe we have achieved what we set out to achieve, but we can always get better. If you have ever met me, you know I will never stop improving, considering feedback and, hopefully, bringing the innovation.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support and commitment to our mission. Together, we are changing lives, one reader at a time. If you’d like to learn more about our programs, visit our website or follow us on Facebook or Instagram for regular updates.
Dyslexia is real!
